Why do B&Bs Require a 2-Night Minimum?

Like all B&Bs in Asheville – and almost all B&Bs nationwide – Hill House requires that guests book a minimum of two nights with us during the weekend. Why do we do this? It’s not a scam to get your money – we promise!  We do this to ensure that guests have a enjoyable stay at our B&B, without the noise and commotion of staff cleaning rooms and checking new guests in and out during the daytime. By keeping our weekend workload manageable, we can provide a relaxing and calm environment for you to call home during your stay in Asheville.

We also do this so that our rooms will not be orphaned. If we didn’t have a 2-night minimum, many guests would book only Saturday night, leaving some rooms unoccupied on Friday night. What a waste!

Sometimes, exceptions can be made. If a room is booked for Thursday and Friday, then the room may be made available for a single night on Saturday, and the same may apply on a Friday night to a room that is booked for Saturday and Sunday. Please see our “Offers” page for a listing of these single-night weekend opportunities and don’t hesitate to contact us with questions.

We hope this doesn’t inconvenience you, but it is standard policy for inns that want to provide guests with a clean and peaceful environment. You are free to book a one-night stay with us during the week, with the exception of most of October and the 2-week period over Christmas and New Years, but we do hope you’ll join us for at least two nights – you won’t regret it!
