HILL HOUSE BED & BREAKFAST POLICIES
Check-in time is not that important, as long as we know about it. Guests can generally check in at any hour, as long as their room has been cleaned, and we know when to be looking for them. On a typical evening, except for Friday, we will have only one or two check-ins. We have a small staff, and cannot have someone sitting in the office all day. But if we know when you're coming, we can be there waiting for you. If you arrive and you don't see anyone, please call.
Check-out is at 11:00 a.m. on the morning of departure.
Hill House is unlike most other inns and hotels. We will only take your deposit if we actually lose money, and that has not happened since the inn came under new ownershp in February 2012. For us to lose money if you cancel, (1) all rooms in your room's rate class must be booked and (2) we would not be able to rebook your room. Otherwise, we will refund your deposit and charge your credit card only a $35 processing fee.
If both of those conditions are applicable, (1) for any cancellation at least 14 days prior to arrival, your deposit would still be returned minus the $35 processing fee; (2) cancellations 7 to 14 days prior to arrival would result in forfeiture of the deposit; (3) and if you cancel within 7 days of your arrival date, you will be charged for all nights reserved. Arrivals after the scheduled date and departures before the scheduled date fall within our cancellation policy.
The full amount of both processing fees and lost deposits/charges can be applied to new reservations. Reservations that are canceled because weather has closed area highways are fully refundable.
Reservations may be made online or by calling 855-447-0002 or 828-232-0345 and are confirmed at booking. Reservations are guaranteed with a valid credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover). Reservation confirmation letters are e-mailed within 24 hours of the reservation.
For all stays, a deposit of the room's one-night rack rate is required. Deposits made with personal checks are due within five days of booking. All deposits are subject to standard cancellation policies. Balances are due upon check-in. Payments can be made using cash, personal check, traveler's check, or credit card.
Guests of the Inn
Rates are based on two-person occupancy. There is a charge of $25 per person per day for additional guests. Arrangements must be made in advance of arrival. Taxes are applied as required by law.
We can accommodate children who don’t cry and are otherwise well-behaved in the Inn. Please inform us when making your reservation if you have children.
We allow only small dogs in the main Hill House building. They must be crated and quiet when guests are not in the room. Larger dogs are permitted in the Cottage, the Hideaway Gallery Suite, and the Pisgah Apartment. Because of guests' allergies, we unfortunately cannot accept cats. If a dog necessitates additional cleaning or causes damage to a room, an appropriate fee will be charged.
All guest rooms, interior public spaces, and the front/rear porch of the Hill House B&B Inn are NON-SMOKING. Smoking is permitted in the side yard and the porch of the Cottage. Receptacles are provided for cigarette ashes & butts. Guests are liable for a $300 cleaning fee for smoke odors in the rooms.
For the safety of all guests, no candles are to be lit in rooms. A minimum $100 cleaning fee will be assessed if candles or wax residue are found in the room upon departure.
Red wine stains can be extremely difficult to remove. Caution is advised if you are enjoying red wine in your room, since any damage to carpet or linens will be the responsibility of the guest.
Guests are responsible for the cost of all damages to the room, beyond normal wear and tear.
